Birmingham Bulldogs Rugby League took a chronically depleted side to champions-elect Nottingham Outlaws and, with further injuries taking their toll throughout the match, went down by 78 points to 4 as the home side secured the Conference’s Midlands Premier Divisional title.

Notts crossed six times before the break for a 36-0 half time lead. Though clearly up against it, and starved of possession, Brum kept plugging away when they had the ball, and gained due reward when prop Paul Cadman drove over early in the second period.

For the most part, though, Birmingham were on the back foot and, as injuries mounted, were sometimes forced to play short-handed. Nonetheless, every player present gave his all as Bulldogs first XIII completed their seasons programme.

After a deserved ‘breather’, the club will look to strengthen the playing squad over the winter and early spring months.
