Competition: Birmingham Rugby League Champion Schools – local stage
Great Barr School led the way as the local stages of the Birmingham Champion Schools Rugby League competition were completed at Aston Old Ewardians. Competing in five age groups from year 7 (11 and 12 year olds) to year 11 (15 and 16), Great Barr went through in all bar the year 9 section.
Hot on their heels were Kingsbury, who qualified in three of the five groups. Sides from King Edwards, Bishop Challoner and St. Edmund Campion also qualified.
Other schools competing were Leasowes, who beat qualifiers Kingsbury in the Year 7 group as well as running them close in year 8, and Aston Manor, who played out a 4 tries-all thriller with Leasowes in Year 11
All qualifying schools from this stage will assemble again at Aston Old Eds on Wednesday November 25 for the Bimingham Finals.
